Save The Date Etiquette - I am checking my mail Jessica, Aretha, Brittney, Camila and Savannah

Camila Alves, Jessica Biel, Aretha Franklin, Wyonna Judd and of course the beautiful Savannah Brinson are all recently engaged. Congratulations to them all!!! Oh, I have to mention Chris O'Dowd and Dawn Porter (he just does it for me, no disrespect Dawn). I am sure they are excited and anxious about the guest list and one way to ensure that people who matter the most are definitely available to attend is to send a Save The Date.

Saving the date is a comparatively new custom and the rules are evolving with new trends and changes in culture.  It has become necessary to provide guests with enough notice to comfortably fit your wedding day into their schedule. Today we are faced with the challenge of planning vacations, family events, business trips, church outings, etc. up to over 6 months in advance.  The Save The Date is an absolute must if it is a destination wedding or a wedding that may span several days based on the customs of the bride or groom.

Save The Date tips:

  • Mail at least 6 months in advance (wedding invitations are mailed approximately 6 weeks in advance)
  • Simply state the date AND location
  • Clearly indicate that a formal invitation will follow
  • This is a chance to show some personality versus formal invitations that should be more classic and tasteful. Your Save The Date can be cute, quirky and even comical. As always veer away from the rude, crude and vulgar.
  • Some say to avoid confetti and other 'messy' enclosures. I disagree. Simply state on the envelope that there is confetti inside. The effect will look beautiful while your warning will prevent your guests from cursing your name while vacuuming.
  • The Save The Date magnet is popular and looks cool on the refrigerator, but give your guests a heads up that a magnet is enclosed so they avoid placing the envelope on computers or compromise any other electronic gadgets.
I love Wedding Paper Divas for the variety of cards but  Storkie Express is a go-to for classic cards. For those of you with a massive funny bone, you can choose from the collection on Magnet Street.

I am looking for my Save The Date in the mail ;-)

Is Savannah Brinson (LeBrons Baby Mama) happy or relieved?

Congratulations to Savannah Brinson on her engagement!! I am happy for her. I really am. Actually, no I am not. I am relieved. She is an amazing woman. She is still with her high school sweetheart. Kudos to her for cutting off her options so early in life.

This young woman took herself off the market without exploring other possibilities. She supported him during the start of his career. She was there before he was "King James". She put up with his ego. She chose to stick with a man who will have every stripper, video vixen, 'slore', professional jump-off and "model" in every hemisphere, throwing themselves at him. She had 2 children with him before he even proposed. She has conducted herself like a lady and avoided salacious scandals associated with basketball wives, etc. She has kept herself in great shape. She looks amazing for a woman who has 2 young children. As a matter of fact, she looks good, by any standard.

So what took him so long to finally 'wife' her. They better announce a wedding date within the 30 days, so she is not a Fiance for the next 10 years. It pains me that women give away the gift of carrying a mans child without accountability. Thank goodness for child support laws. No one should be surprised that he proposed. He should have proposed before they had the 1st child. She should have proposed before the 2nd child. He should have proposed before leaving Cleveland. This man is not a stranger to contracts and commitment. What was the delay to commit to beautiful Savannah Brinson: mother of his 2 children.

I hope they get married in California and stay together for at least 10 years.....lol Take a page from the Vanessa Bryant play book.

I have to give him some credit. The ring is beautiful. Check out the ring at MediaTakeOut
